Introduction

This project is based on the zoetrope, a device that creates the illusion of animation by progressively displaying a sequence of images.

The project aimed to create a light-based zoetrope. All the frames are arranged within a structure, which is then rotated while synchronized lights illuminate each frame at the right moment.

The Technique

The system uses synchronized, fast LED flashes to illuminate the correct frames without any overlap. This allows both animations to be seen simultaneously, side by side. Four IR sensors, positioned 90 degrees apart, continuously measure the rotation speed, enabling real-time adjustments and precise synchronization.
